Do you have sewing workshops?
Yes, we offer a wide variety of sewing workshops that can be found in the Workshop section of the website. Each workshop holds about 5-7 people depending on the needs of the project being made. We cater to garment sewing mostly and offer workshops at a variety of sewing levels.
To best be informed of our upcoming workshops be sure to sign up for our Newsletter.
When are your workshops?
Each month we have a select amout of workshops that are held during our open days. Some are nightly on week days while others are held during weekend day hours.
What are Workroom hours?
We host open sew hours every other Thursday from 4pm-8pm where you can come rent a sewing machine or bring your own to work on a project. This is not a class, but are hours meant for people who might have some questions about a trickier part of sewing a project, need a bigger space to cut, have minor fitting questions (depending on who is monitoring the workroom hours) or just want to come to sew and hang!
I went to sign up for a workshop, but it was sold out. Is there a waiting list?
Please email us at qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co so we can add you to the cancellation list. Since our workshop size is small they tend to sell out quickly so be sure to sign up for our Newsletter to be informed immediately upon their release for sale!
I've never sewn before, can I take a workshop?
If you have never sewn before we highly recommend signing up for our Square One - Intro to Sewing Class so that you get a good foundation or the confidence to try a garment sewing class. Most classes require a varying amount of sewing and those requirements can be found in the individual workshop page description.
I signed up for a workshop but need to cancel. How can I do that?
We have a very strict cancellation policy which is as follows:
It can be very difficult to fill a cancelled spot in such small groups though we understand life happens, people get sick, things with kids arise, etc. Please read this policy thoroughly before booking as we will not be able to make exceptions as a small, independently run business.
If you can, please provide at least 72 hours notice so that we can try to fill your spot. You will receive a gift card of the purchased amount that can be used towards future workshops or in store purchases.
If you can not provide 72 hours notice or you do not show up to the workshop, you will not be eligible for any store credit.
If you are able to find someone to take your place please email us at qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co so we can arrange the change.

How do you sell your fabric?
We sell our fabric by the half yard.
What do the Opacity levels mean on the product pages?
Sheer - the fabric allows light through and will show the body underneath if not lined
Semi-Sheer - the fabric diffuses light and will provide moderate modesty though note that darker colors may be less sheer
Semi-Opaque - the fabric filters light and will provide ample modesty though note that lighter colors may be less opaque
Opaque - the fabric blocks all light and provides the greatest degree of modesty
How long will it take for my order to be fulfilled?
We do our best to process orders within 3 to 5 business days from receipt of payment. Please note we are a very small team at the moment so things could take a little longer especially after a sale or holiday breaks.
Can I modify or add to my order?
Please reach out immediately to qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co if you'd like to make a change or add to your order. This will however depend on where along the processing chain your order is at at the time of communication. If the order has been processed and fabric has been cut we unfortunately cannot make changes.
Can I cancel my order?
If your fabric has been cut we cannot cancel the order as all purchases are considered final sale (see Returns & Refunds below for more information). Please reach out immediately to qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co with a cancellation request.
Can I order swatches or sample fabrics?
We are currently not offering swatching but it is in the pipeline for the future. Right now the smallest amount available for purcahse online is 1/2 yard.
How much fabric should I buy for my project?
Patterns generally come with a yardage/meterage requirement per view that can be found in the instructions, though some designers have this listed on the product page so you can see prior to purchase. If the width of the fabric you are intending to purchase does not match the pattern recommendation width the best option is to cut your pattern pieces out and do a mock layout before purchasing to see exactly how much fabric you need.
The fabric that I want sold out. Will you be restocking it?
This will depend on if it's a mainstay fabric for us as some fabric are strictly seasonal or deadstock and no more has been made. If available on the product page, sign up to be notified of a fabric's return.
I didn't buy enough fabric for my project. If I buy more, will the color be the same as what I previously purchased?
Our mills do their best to match color across rolls but it is not guaranteed that the dye lots will be the same from roll to roll. It's always recommended to order slightly more yardage if you're uncertain. There are plenty of great accesory patterns that could work for leftover fabric!

Do you accept returns on fabric?
We do not accept returns of cut fabric. Once fabric has been cut it is considered a final sale. If you have received an incorrect item by mistake please reach out to qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co so we can get the order corrected!
The fabric I received has a flaw. Can I get a replacement?
We do our best to make sure all yardage is qc'ed before shipping so that you are receiving the best quality fabric. Mistakes do happen though and if you believe there is a flaw please reach out to qcc@capitalfabricsupply.co with photos so we can review and send new yardage or issue a refund.
The fabric I received looks different from what I see online. Can I return it?
A lot of effort goes into making sure our photos match what the fabrics look like in person. We try to make it very clear on each product page that there are variances between computer screens and mobile devices when viewing online. We can not guarantee that the color seen online will be an exact match to what you recieve in person. We are working away at being able to offer swatches so you can check color before committing to full yardage orders. Unfortunately once a fabric is cut we can not accept returns and they are considered final sale.
