Full Description

The Thompson is the sort of jacket that looks equally at home in the country as it does leaning against subway tiles. Comfortably oversized with plenty of room for layering thanks to its raglan sleeve construction. It also comes with a detachable hood option in case you want to flip this style into the ultimate oilskin Barbour-esque jacket. Classic in silhouette to make any unintentional outfit feel more intentional.

Intermediate or above welcome; please come with knowledge of and experience in using a home sewing machine, working from a sewing pattern and experience sewing longer process garments. If you're looking for a robust class focusing on sewing a lined jacket this is it! We will use the straight stitch for construction.

We recommend woven coat or jacket weight fabrics in mid to heavy weights from 6 to 10 oz or 200 to 340 gsm. A Bemberg or polyester lining is recommended, you can use others if you'd like though a slippery lining is best for the sleeves. Fabric yardage should be purchased and pattern cut out by participants beforehand.

In this session we will follow instructions for the short view A with the classic collar plus lining of the Thompson Coat by Daughter Judy. This workshop will take place over four (4) Tuesdays from 5:30 - 8:30.

Materials Included

Pattern included, sewing machine provided, students are responsible for purchasing their own fabric. As always we offer a 10% discount for those participating in the workshop and have an abundant array of fabrics that would be suitable for this project.

Cancellation Policy

It can be very difficult to fill a cancelled spot in such small groups though we understand life happens, people get sick, things with kids arise, etc. Please read this policy thoroughly before booking as we will not be able to make exceptions as a small, independently run business.

If you can, please provide at least 72 hours notice so that we can try to fill your spot. You will receive a gift card of the purchased amount that can be used towards future workshops or in store purchases.

If you can not provide 72 hours notice or you do not show up to the workshop, you will not be eligible for any store credit.
